During periods of excessive heat, pavements and asphalt parking lots can reach temperatures of 160°F. Skin burns can be caused with exposure to a surface that is 118°F. I have a customer in Phoenix, AZ who called me to ask me if her OOFOS Sandals would melt when the day's high temperature was expected to reach 111°F. (OOFOS says they won't.)
She mentioned how people restrict the timing of their activities... like trips to the grocery store... to avoid walking across hot parking lots. She mentioned how simple commuting and getting around in the city is a problem because of the hot sidewalks. It may seem counter intuitive, but the answer is a product called Toasty Feet.
Don't forget that Toasty Feet also keep your feet cooler while walking on hot surfaces. They're great for anyone during the hot summer months and a must have for people where heat can become excessive.
