Three volume levels...
|
70 dB |
Like a regular alarm clock. |
|
95 dB |
Very loud alarm that will wake most heavy sleepers. |
|
120 dB |
Extremely loud alarm that will wake anybody. |
|
The Screaming Meanie 220 gives more options to suit your particular needs. And in extreme cases you may need the 220's 120 dB alarm to wake up. |
Two volume levels...
|
70 dB |
Like a regular alarm clock. |
|
110 dB |
Very loud alarm that will wake most heavy sleepers. |
|
There is a world of difference between 110 dB and 120 dB...it's actually about ten times louder! But 110 dB is still extremely loud and will wake most heavy sleepers. |
| There is a 10 minute and 5 minute pre alarm that you can turn off with just one button (the Key button). You have to press the Key button and the HR and MIN buttons at the same time to turn off the final alarm...you have to be awake to do it. I makes sure you can't just keep pressing one button while your half asleep |
Screaming Meanie 110 uses the same unique way of shutting off the alarm as the 120. |
It's easy read in the dark because of the backlit display... |
The 110 uses a similar backlit display. |
| Built in battery tester gives you more assurance that your alarm will go off and you will wake up. |
Also has a built-in battery tester. |
| The Screaming Meanie 220 functions as an alarm clock. You can set the time you want to wake up and it has a clock function. |
The Screaming Meanie 110 is a countdown timer only. |
| The 220 has a Countdown Timer function. You just enter the number of hours and minutes you want to sleep and you're all set. You turn it off the same way as I mentioned above. It's also a good, loud timer for other purposes...like if you need a reminder to do something and you're cutting the grass or working with power tools and wouldn't hear a regular alarm go off. |
The 110 is the same as the 220 except, as mentioned above, the alarm isn't as loud.
|
Some people use the countdown timer function on the 120 or the Screaming Meanie 110 to help them stay awake while driving. I don't recommend that...
First, if you're that tired...pull over...take a nap. Secondly, it takes two hands to turn it off...you're driving. Thirdly, it's loud...it could startle you...you could swerve. |
|
| Pushing the Key button twice rapidly sets off the continuous personal panic alarm function. You have to use the three button method mentioned above to turn it off. So am attacker would most likely not know how to do it. At the 120 dB setting the alarm can be heard up to a mile away to summon help. |
Not available on the Screaming Meanie 110. |
| Pushing the Key and Beacon buttons simultaneously activates the Audio Locator Beacon function. This sounds up to a 120 dB alarm for 10 seconds every five minutes. It's great for people who enjoy sports that take them off the beaten path to summon help where even a cell phone doesn't always work. It's also a great feature for people who live where there is the threat of tornadoes, hurricanes or earthquakes to summon help in an emergency. |
Not available on the Screaming Meanie 110. |
| Simple to operate. |
Because there are fewer features some people think the 110 is easier to use. |
| Colors: Black, Transparent Green |
Colors: Black, Transparent Red, Transparent Blue, Transparent Charcoal |
| More features make it a little more complicated to use. |
Simple to use. If you're not comfortable with learning to use all the features on the 220 and you simply need a countdown alarm the 110 is the Screaming Meanie for you. |

| Summary: |
| Overall I think for the difference in price you get a lot more with the Screaming Meanie 220. There's more versatility. Having the extra safety functions could prove to be very important some day...you just never know. The delivered price is just $8.00 more than the 110. |
If all you're looking for is a Countdown Timer and you don't think you need the extra 10 dB the 220 offers, the Screaming 110 is a great choice for you. It's $8.00 less expensive and certainly that's a consideration in today's world. |
